Our favorite beaches around Saint-Tropez
Wild beaches or private shores, hidden coves or expansive stretches of white sand, whether in the city center or tucked away at the end of a path, the choice is yours to find the perfect beach for a relaxing family day by the water.
The perfect beach for little ones
When visiting with young children, it’s advisable to choose a supervised beach (in summer) with shallow waters and a nearby restaurant to handle those little hunger pangs and big thirsts. From this perspective, we particularly recommend Plage du Soleil and Plage du Parc in Cavalaire, Plage du Debarquement in La Croix-Valmer, as well as Plages de Pampelonne and L’Escalet in Ramatuelle, and Les Salins and Les Canoubiers in Saint-Tropez.
An adventure beach for older kids
For a peaceful sunbathing experience immersed in nature, head to the beautiful Plage de Gigaro in La Croix-Valmer or Plage des Salins at the tip of the Saint-Tropez peninsula. These spots are perfect for introducing children to snorkeling, thanks to their pure and clear waters. Extend your underwater adventures by exploring the designated marine trails near Plage de Gigaro and Pampelonne in Ramatuelle, known for their crystal-clear waters and private beaches.
For building sandcastles or enjoying water play, consider Plage du Soleil in Cavalaire, which features inflatable play structures, or Plage de Port-Grimaud, known for its numerous water activities. It’s the perfect opportunity for a family paddleboard or kayak excursion in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez or to take a family catamaran lesson. Laughter and unforgettable memories are guaranteed!
The best family beaches
from Sainte-Maxime to Saint-Raphaël
Sandy beaches and pebble shores, hidden coves and calanques—this stretch of the French Riviera is truly blessed by Mother Nature
Splashing around with little ones
To dip tiny toes in the Mediterranean, opt for wide sandy beaches that are easily accessible, supervised during the summer, and, in some cases, shaded. Notable options include Plage de La Nartelle in Sainte-Maxime, Plage de San Peire in Les Issambres, Plage des Esclamandes in Saint-Aygulf, and Plage d’Agay in Saint-Raphael.
Taking a dip with the older kids
On foot or by bike, embark on the coastal path (or customs path, depending on the municipality) to discover the charming calanques of Saint-Aygulf and the small wild coves lining the Agay Bay in Saint-Raphael. As you stroll along, enjoy the delight of taking a dip in the turquoise waters of these beautifully preserved rocky coves.
Beaches to see and read about
Many more curiosities await you along the French Riviera! Be sure to check out Plage des Elephants in Sainte-Maxime, which inspired the author of Babar for the book Le voyage de Babar. And if you stop by Plage du Debarquement in Saint-Raphael, don’t miss the stunning view of the Ile d’Or at sunset. Doesn’t it have a striking similarity to the cover of the Tintin album L’Île noire? It’s the perfect time to revisit the classics as a family!
